How To Talk About Fundraising
For many people, the most challenging part of the Tour isn’t the ride itself, it’s reaching out to friends, family and colleagues for donations. But how you present yourself and the Tour can make a major impact on your fundraising. We’ve put together a few facts to pass on to your network to let them know just how great a cause the Alberta Cancer Foundation really is.
- Community Based Support.
Nothing is more important than taking care of your own. The Alberta Cancer Foundation is the official fundraising partner of 17 Alberta Health Services cancer centres. That means the funds raised stay in those communities. - 500 Clinical Trials.
The Alberta Cancer Foundation has supported over 5,500 Albertans over the past 5 years as they take part in clinical trials researching new technology and methods to treat cancer. This hasn’t just helped current cancer patients, it’s also promoting Alberta as a nationally and internationally recognized center for cancer innovation. The life-saving treatments of tomorrow may be funded by the Tour today. - The Patient Financial Assistance Program.
Cancer can cause major disruption in people’s lives, and cutting-edge treatments aren’t the only way to help. Funds from the Tour also assist patients and families with bill payments, groceries and rent, so they can focus on what’s most important – healing. - Patient Navigators.
A cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming. That’s why, since 2012, the Alberta Cancer Foundation has supported Patient Navigators at local centers. Patient Navigators are specially trained registered nurses that work with patients to explain treatment options and test results. They assist with the physical, practical and emotional challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis.
Most importantly, share your personal stories. Let your network know who you’re riding for and why the Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer is important to you.
